Counselling is a talking therapy which offers a confidential and supportive space for you to be fully heard and understood.
My role as a counsellor, is not to give advice, but rather to walk alongside you, in your own journey of self discovery.
Our counselling relationship will give you a unique and confidential space to explore how you really feel.
It can give you the space where you can say whatever you need to out loud, without feeling judged.
It can be helpful to talk over problems and options with someone who cares but is not directly involved. Someone who is there, not to offer you their opinion, but to help you find the best outcome for you.
It is up to you to decide what you want to achieve from your counselling sessions. Working collaboratively, I will help you work towards achieving these goals.
Sometimes it is hard to put how we feel into words. We can just feel lost, sad or angry for no apparent reason. Talking it over with someone can help to bring clarity, focus and growth.
As your counsellor I will provide you with a contract before we commence the sessions. The contract will include things like: a confidentiality agreement, an agreed day/time for the sessions and where/how your personal data is held.
You will have plenty of time to look through the information and ask as many questions as you like to ensure it feels the right fit for you.
Whether you've had counselling before, or if this is your first experience, I welcome and applaud you for investing in yourself.
Your desire for healing, growth and positive change is attainable. Doing so takes courage and dedication. Personal growth is no easy feat ... but you will not be alone.
I have benefited from counselling myself, so I can relate to the feelings that accompany the choice of looking inwardly.
Taking the first step and deciding to have counselling can feel really daunting, so it's important you find a counsellor who is right for you.
I work from a Humanistic Existential approach, this places YOU in the centre of the therapy. My focus as a counsellor is on how you see the world, from your own viewpoint, through your experiences, and your response to those.
Regardless of the type of therapy offered, only you will know if you feel comfortable with a counsellor. If you feel I am not the right fit for you, I will help signpost you to other practices/organisations who may be better suited.
